Mini pork pies
[Susan] “Oh you’re right Clarrie, you can’t beat mini pork pies”
I quite agree.
But how very dare Susan and Clarrie agree that bought pies are just as good as homemade!
They should be ashamed of themselves.
Seemingly Joe “goes mad” for pasties (well, don’t suppose he gets out these days).
And picnics are better when you don’t have to do chopping “and the like”. Far too messy.
Susan jealous of Clarrie?
Having a right old natter while potting the yoghurts, Susan’s chatting about how Emma seems to have gone off the name Scarlett if she has a girl. Susan’s a bit perplexed, as Emma and Ed seemed to really want that name.
So it’s no coincidence Emma changed her mind about Scarlett after Clarrie had poured very cold water on that idea for a name.
[Susan] “Emma is all ‘Clarrie says this, Clarrie says that’”
Problem is, Susan quite liked Scarlett, and is a bit put out that she wasn’t asked about names.
So – in trying to win Clarrie’s affections, Emma’s managing to alienate her own mum.
Nice work!
About last night
Talking to Elizabeth, Kenton reckoned last night was:
[Kenton] “Was very constructive. It left me with a lot of ideas for the future”
I bet it did, matey!
I wonder how long it’s going to take for Jolene and Kenton to tell their nearest and dearest?
Hidden fruit ever more tasty?
Or are they just worried what the neighbours will say?
Tony’s unconvincing ‘bad back’ routine
I think we were all going “hmmm” along with Helen as Tony tried to make out that he had a bad back, so could really do with having an extra hand.
So Tony tries another way to persuade Helen to come home.
[Tony] “It makes sense love, on a purely business level … nice for you to have something to do … and other adults to talk to”
Tony reckons it’ll be better for everyone if Helen came home to Bridge Farm for a few weeks … a month … or two at the most …..
Sensing that Helen still wasn’t biting, Tony tries the truth:
[Tony] “Because you and Henry bring so much joys into our loves. I didn’t know I could feel like this again. That’s why we want you to come home. We’d love to be close to you and Henry. These first months are so previous … you’d make us so happy Helen. You’d be helping us”
[Helen] “If we honestly would be helping each other, then I give in. We’d love to come back for a while”
Huzzah!
Tony wins a ‘discussion’ with Helen at last.
I’m still not sure it wouldn’t be better for Helen to at least try some time to herself (with Henry), but can’t also find much reason why going back home isn’t a bad thing.
“he doesn’t know”
Alan Sanderson to tell Elizabeth that both Lily and Freddie passed their exams, so are into Cathedral School.
Which upsets Elizabeth beyond belief.
[Elizabeth, crying] “Nigel can’t be proud … can’t say well done … he doesn’t know … he’ll never know … he’ll never know anything about their lives again … oh why!”
Phew.
That was a teary moment for me as well.
