Chris is fine, apart from a ruptured intestine (!)

Today started off with no change in Chris. Brian reckoned he’d had a quite night.

(does anyone in an induced coma ever not have a quiet night?!?)

[Brian] “No change is a good thing Alice. Getting better is going to take a long time.”

Poor Alice is desperate to be there.

At the hospital, Susan’s exhausted and not eating. It sounded like she nearly fainted, at one point.

Lucky for Susan, Jennifer’s doing what Jennifer does best – looking after others. Now, I know she can be a tad prickly, but she never shirks from helping in times of need.

As the day progresses, Chris’ oxygen levels dropped, and his tummy was swollen. They took him off for another scan

Oxygen levels dropped – tummy all swollen up – needs another scan

Ed uses the power of s spreadsheet against Mike

Having business planning software has given Ed new powers.

In a meeting with Mike, he’s able to show Mike what will happen to his (Ed’s) business if he keeps getting the same price for his milk.

It’s not a pretty sight to share.

[Ed] “We’ve built this reputation on my milk. You can see I’m not looking to raise the price out of greed. My back’s against the wall.”

Mike can (literally) see that now.

So agrees to give Ed an extra per penny per litre.

Ed puts the new price back into his software, and reckons it will work. Just.

Ed’s really on the money these days. He also works out that the rise in price Mike will then put onto the customers will mean Mike’s actually gaining extra. Which Ed wants them to put back into marketing.

[Ed] “We can make up what we lose and more.”

Best not to argue, Mike.

The power of the spreadsheet is strong in this one …

When was the last time Felphersham Hospital had a review?

When they get Chris back from his scan:

[Alice] “All this time he had a ruptured intestine and no one knew!”

While Brian reckons they couldn’t have known, I’m with Alice.

That’s just a teeny bit shocking!

Alice can’t stand having to stand still waiting for a direct flight, so she’s worked out a rather convoluted way home.

(she’s in Canada, for goodness sake … surely the flights aren’t only every 3rd Sunday?!?)

[Susan] “He will be alright, won’t he?”

[Neil] “The doctors know what they’re doing love.”
