Bethany’s Christening – Sun 23.06.13 #thearchers

Pondering The Archers Sunday 23rd June 2013
  • Bethany’s late for her own Christening
  • Another awkward Tom and Brenda moment
  • Kenton’s smitten
  • Ed was right, Mike wrong
  • Tom wasn’t invited
  • Josh is running before he’s counted his eggs

Bethany’s late for her own Christening

Which is a ladies’ prerogative. Especially when she needs her nappy changed.

Though she behaved perfectly from thereon. She didn’t cry. Even for the water bit. And smiled perfectly for the cameras.

Mike gave a lovely speech. Brenda gave Vicky a delightful present of a voucher for a bronze plaque of Bethany’s feet (!). And that was that.

(slow day today)

Another awkward Tom and Brenda moment

Brenda had to go to No 3 (even on a Sunday) to let the builders in. Who didn’t show up. So Brenda got all butch with them on the phone.

She must have also been thumping around the place, as Tom heard banging and came round to check.

Awkward!

Kenton’s smitten

Jolene’s brought lilies into The Bull for Bethany’s christening lunch. She reckons babies enjoy different smells.

(how Jolene knows Bethany hasn’t smelt lilies is anyone’s guess)

[Kenton] “I am the luckiest bloke in Borsetshire.”

Aye, it’s the simple things that makes one love.

Ed was right, Mike wrong

Not often that can be said!

Not that Mike’s perturbed. Seems they’ve gained new customers since they put the milk price up, and that (he reckons) is because of the leaflets, which (in part) talk about food intolerances.

[Mike] “There’s definitely a market for quality food.”

Tom wasn’t invited

Yet another awkward moment with Tom today.

He’d decided to have a quiet pint at The Bull, not realising it was Bethany’s wedding lunch.

He hadn’t been invited to the Christening.

Oops.

Josh is running before he’s counted his eggs

(or something like that!)

He’s gone and booked another three farmers’ markets without talking to Hayley and Neil.

Hayley reckons they won’t manage. Josh is crabbit.

Oops.
