Bethany’s too fat – Fri 21.06.13 #thearchers

Pondering The Archers Friday 21st June 2013
  • Darrell moves out of Ambridge
  • Since when did bacon = curly hair?
  • Rob just happened to have a football
  • Bethany’s too big for her christening gown
  • Saint Sebastian has to go at the back
  • Helen really (really) fancies Rob

Darrell moves out of Ambridge

But he’s only off to a mate’s in Borchester. We’ll still be hearing from him, pleasing for work (as he did to Clarrie today).

Since when did bacon = curly hair?

I must have missed that, as both Helen and Rob seems to think it’s the norm.

Rob just happened to have a football

At the Food Festival, Helen wanted to watch a cookery demo.

But Henry was getting bored.

So Rob took him off to play footy.

He just happened to have a football in his car.

Which I found odd.

Why would an adult man, with no kids, and no previous interest expressed in football have a football?

Bethany’s too big for her christening gown

Seems she’d had an almighty growth spurt. Which is a bit of a problem, considering her christening is this Sunday.

[Vicky] “I’ll never get the sleeves over those chubby little arms.”

So, Vicky and Mike have to go and buy another, with Vicky very anxious that they won’t get a perfect replacement.

When they get there. Vicky was right. The same gown wasn’t available.

But, Mike does spot one that seems to be lovely.

[Vicky] “Oh, you clever thing Mike, I think you’ve done it!”

And as simple as that, problem solved.

Though Mike won’t let Bethany try it on, just in case she’s sick on it.

(the joys of bairns!)

Saint Sebastian has to go at the back

Seems he’s a bit too much for the front of the Flower Festival.

If only we could judge for ourselves …

Helen really (really) fancies Rob

[Helen] “He’s really nice, which is a bit of a surprise.”

She assumed Brian would have hired a “hardnosed businessman.”

She’s really falling for him …

Oh dear.

This won’t end well.

After all, Helen and men are never a happy tale. Rob is married. And Helen’s folks despise him.
