Matt’s woken by a Policeman, Brenda by a kiss
Matt spent the night on a bench.
He’s woken up by a Policeman. Matt is most definitely not amused.
[Matt] “Some plod, making my life a misery, is the last thing I need right now, so why don’t you go away and annoy someone else in St Petersburg … just leave me alone, will you, I've had enough of you and your country.”
Funnily enough, the Policeman arrests Matt. Not a good idea to be rude to a Policeman, no matter what country you’re in.
[Matt] “You’re making a big mistake. I’m a British businessman here on business.”
Oh dear.
The word ‘British’ probably just made it worse.
At the Police station, Matt keeps banging on about being a British businessman. A British citizen. That he wants a lawyer. The British Embassy.
They just laugh at him, and slam the door.
Brenda to the rescue
Dmitry is begging Brenda not to listen to her voicemail. He doesn’t want the “outside world to interfere”. But she needs to check in with Matt.
[Dmitry] “It’s a mistake, he’ll want you to do something, and we’ll have to get out of bed.”
But, Brenda listens to Matt getting more and more desperate with each message. Ending up with her telling him that he has nowhere to sleep.
So Dmitry calls Tatyana. I don’t know Russian, so I don’t know what he said, but he mentioned Matt’s name a lot.
Matt then goes to the hotel, but they have no idea where he’s gone. Dmitry has more news – his ‘friend’ has found him at the Police station.
He’d been arrested for hooliganism.
[Brenda] “Typical, stupid man!”
Dmitry won’t let Brenda go to the station. His ‘friend’ will sort it.
(one assumes he means Tatyana. I wonder who she is)
When Matt sees Tatyana:
[Matt] “Good god almighty!”
[Tatyana] “Very sweet of you, but no.”
Seems Tatyana knows more about Vitaly, but won’t say more.
Who is she?
Matt and Brenda, reunited
And they were delighted to see each other!
Brenda introduces Dmitry to Matt. He’s sure he’s seen him somewhere before, but can’t remember.
[Matt] “Well, you don’t have to be a psychic to see what kind of time you’ve been having!”
Vitaly’s dad
As Brenda and Matt get reacquainted, another Russian bloke turns up.
Seems he is Leonid Kedrov. Vitaky’s dad.
He’s here to announce the news that Vitaly is in prison.
The plot thickens …
