Matt gets a cigar for his birthday
From Brenda.
And that was that.
Poor Matt. Though he is the master of his own destiny.
Matt doesn’t scare easily
Brenda’s still spooked from meeting the villagers yesterday.
[Brenda] “They were terrified, and so was I.”
[Matt] “So, he’s been scaring a few babushkas.”
Tough guy that Matt.
Even when faced with rather stereotypical (and a tad ridiculous) Russian mafia types.
There’s a surprise in Matt’s room
Brenda wants Matt to show Dmitry the contract he got from that (very scared) women in Nicolai Barbarin’s office. So, Matt takes them back to his room.
When they get there, there’s a porno movie blaring from the telly.
Matt denies it’s anything to do with him.
[Brenda, without laughing] “Matt, it’s alright. It’s your room.”
[Matt, mortified] “I never watch this stuff, alright!”
[Brenda] “You don't have to explain.”
[Matt] “I’m not lying … do I look like a perv?”
(well, we don’t know!)
Matt reckons he never turned on the TV. It must have been the cleaner.
[Dmitry] “Why would a cleaner be watching porn??”
Then, there’s a knock on the door. Champagne, for Matt’s birthday.
Dmitry say to shut the door. Quickly.
[Dmitry] “I don’t know who it’s from, but they want you to know they’re watching.”
[Matt] “Brenda, ignore him, he’s being ridiculous.”
[Brenda] “I feel sick.”
[Matt] “It’s a funny way of scaring someone”
[Dmitry] “You are scared, aren’t you?”
(porn and champagne? It seems like someone’s trying to woo, not scare, Matt!)
Brenda’s sent to England
Dmitry wants Brenda to go back to England. Now.
Though gutted, she’s scared.
[Brenda] “I never imagined things could get so ugly. Now it’s all over … It’s not like it could last forever.”
Dmitry reckons he will come and visit.
And Matt’s ever so grateful to her:
[Matt] “I just wanted to say thanks for sticking by me, at least until now. I know it hasn’t exactly been the vacation I made it out to be … When you get back to Ambridge, don’t mention any of this to Lilian, she’ll only worry. This is my problem.”
[Brenda] “How can I go back to Ambridge at all?”
Dmitry sorts it.
She’s going to stay in London, with his mate Zach.
[Dmitry] “Zach will do as I ask.”
Oh, will he now?
That’s odd.
[Brenda] “Can we just elope together, pick a destination on the board and just fly away?”
Brenda!
That’s just far too much excitement for one wee Ambridge lass (though busty you may be).
Is Dmitry a bad ‘un?
As Brenda gets ready to leave, Dmitry promises to look after Matt.
[Brenda] “I know you think he’s an idiot, he’s just despite.”
[Dmitry] “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of him.”
(that sounded sinister …)
Matt does need someone to take care of him.
Despite every warning, he’s back at Nicolai Barbarin’s office, harassing that poor, scared woman.
He grabs her, and holds onto her. He wants an address, but she ends up giving him a phone.
Dmitry happens along (!), and drags Matt away. Matt’s furious.
He accuses Dmitry of making up what the drunk farmer had said (my thought as well), and then Dmitry more or less attacks Matt, trying to get the phone.
Matt eggs him on. Telling him he’ll then tell Brenda what he’s really like.
[Dmitry] “You know what, do what you like. Let’s see how you get on on your own. But I’m warning you Matt. You’d better watch your back!”
Oh-ho!
Is Dmitry a bad ‘un?
