Jaxx re-opens … Sid’s funeral … Helen’s has a six week scan … Jude and Pip plans their trip

  • I think they should have gone with the moose head wall feature
  • If Jude wasn’t ringing alarm bells before, surely now that he thinks Kenton is ‘a really cool guy’
  • Sid’s funeral sounded horrific
  • Who ate all the canapés? Helen did. Helen did. Helen ate all the canapés.
  • What did Kenton say about Helen’s skirt?
  • No Kenton. You supporting your partner and step-son through the death of his father is not, I repeat not, a ‘test’

I think they should have gone with the moose head wall feature

Actually – did Jim get any of his ideas past Kenton?

Not that it matters. Seems like Jaxx was a big hit with all and every.

If Jude wasn’t ringing alarm bells before, surely now that he thinks Kenton is ‘a really cool guy’

I think I’m now more frustrated that I can find any new way to express my frustration about Jude.

Well, not without my blog turning blue!

He did sound very keen about his trip with Pip (for which she’s working all hours).

Mind you, they do deserve each other – what with Pip thinking everyone in Spain will speak English, and Jude thinking that the Spanish name for hamburger we just, like, so, utterly, like, hilarious … pleb.

And just a word to Pip – I really don’t want to know how ‘different’ you will be once off David and Ruth’s radar. Too much information, especially when it involves Jude. You’ll only live to regret it.

While I’m at it:

“I’ll fit in with whatever you want”

Is (a) not a healthy way for one partner to act towards the other and (b) a disaster when said to Jude.

Why on earth are you being so compliant to such an utter idiot?

Sid’s funeral sounded horrific

You have to feel so sorry for Jolene, no matter what you thought about Sid.

At least she had her family with her when they cremated Sid in New Zealand, but it was such a horrible funeral.

Officiated by someone who’d never met him, only enough people to fill a couple of pews at the front, knowing that Sid had tonnes of friends who would have wanted to be there.

It’s a real shame.

I only hope things don’t get any worse for Jolene on her return …

Who ate all the canapés? Helen did. Helen did. Helen ate all the canapés.

So it took a baby to make Helen hungry.

That’s mean, as it’s actally really nice to hear Happy Helen rather than morbid/controlling/moping Helen.

What did Kenton say about Helen’s skirt?

“Love the ? skirt”

Any ideas?

No Kenton. You supporting your partner and step-son through the death of his father is not, I repeat not, a ‘test’

Kenton was really trying every and any justification for not going to New Zealand with Kathy and Jamie, or for driving them to the airport, or for not attending the party to send-off Sid

While he reckons he made the only choice he could make, I think he’s just got his priorities well and truly out of kilter.

Yes, it would have been annoying and difficult to have missed Jaxx’s re-opening, but surely any sane person would put their family first?

Or, does Kenton really just not care about Kathy and Jamie? Are they just becoming an inconvenience?

The cheek of the man complaining that Kathy hadn’t called him to wish him good luck on the opening of a bar he doesn’t even own, ON THE DAY OF SID’S FUNERAL.

Maybe it’s good that Jude thinks Kenton’s ‘cool’. They certainly have the same attitude to anything that isn’t directly about themselves …

This Charming Man

My word – how Jennifer’s attitude to Paul has changed!

She’s gone from warning Lilian to not have anything to do with him, to being genuinely happy to see him, apologising for interrupting one of his and Lilian’s ‘moment’ and was blatantly trying to encourage Lilian’s attentions to him!

Amazing can happen when Brian gives the okay nod …

Anyhoo – Matt or Paul, Paul or Matt?

It doesn’t sound like life is going to be a heady swirl of wonders with Matt when he gets out. While I admit to not having seen The Sopranos, and have heard it’s quite superb, sitting in and watching it doesn’t sound like Lilian’s cup of gin. Especially when Paul’s shown her London, a nice hotel, and (perhaps) his …

Don’t they have TV in prison?

Or newspapers?

And didn’t the recession kick in well before Matt was banged up?

So – why on earth does he still think property will keep him in the manner he is accustomed to???

Now that’s a wonderful range of choices for an ex-con

So when Matt gets home next Tuesday, he can choose between doing nothing, pottering in the garden or playing golf.

I find it hard to see why that’s such a bad thing. Dodgy property deals, or having time to watch Midsomer Murders.

Hmmm.

Lovely

Glad to hear that Peggy has given into Ted’s charms.

That’s really quite nice, that is.

Does anyone give Kenton a break?

David’s ability to defecate on all thing’s Kenton is well known, but Elizabeth!?!

Poor Kenton. All he wanted to do was show photos of his daughter, and share his enthusiasm for the new look Jaxx.

Of course you should have seen it coming!

Well, at least Ed should’ve.

There was no chance that Vicky was going to be a sleeping-partner in the business, and cow bells should’ve started ringing when she insisted on accompanying Ed and Mike to look at new stock.

I’m also not buying into Vicky actually going through with her veal plan. She has a point that the male dairy calves shouldn’t just be shot for nothing, but what’s the difference between them going to market, or being kept and then slaughtered for veal? Isn’t that what will happen to them anyway if they go to market?

Do we think Vicky will actually let anything of them die of anything other than old age?

Better you than me, Kenton

You can look forward to being harassed by both Robert and Eddie for that Jaxx job.

Still, you might get a few nice bribes out of it

  • Soups and Casseroles
  • Vicky and her little beauties
  • Kenton at last chance saloon

Soups and Casseroles
“How are you”
“Oh, you know”

It’s the practical stuff which will keep Jill busy and distracted over the next while.

And while some may scoff at the idea of neighbours and friends calling over with casseroles and soup, it’s such attention and care that’ll help Jill to look after herself and to know that she’s supported.

Still, it’ll be different once time starts marching on again and there’s no urgent ‘crisis’.

This is also the first episode such Jack died that I’m not to be found blubbing in a corner ...

Vicky and her little beauties

Luscious lashes and gorgeous brown coats – Ed and Mike’s new cows certainly sound photogenic.

Though, of course, that’s according to Vicky.

Her rant over the “disgrace” of the “little” young males being taken to slaughter might suggest further trouble to come.

Certainly, Vicky feels a real sense of ownership over “my little beauties” and might create problems when it comes to practical farming decisions.
“I helped make your dreams come true”
and
“I’ll be checking”

also doesn’t bode well for the future sanity, and financial viability, of Ed and Mike’s increased milk round.

Still, Vicky sounds like she has some perspective. I suppose that she could be right in thinking that watching cows give birth can’t indeed be worse than looking into people’s mouths ...

And I never realised some farmers named their cows. Hmm.

Kenton at last chance saloon

Kenton’s feeling the strain of suddenly becoming the oldest man in his family.

Not that he sees himself as the new patriarch (David would never let that happen!), but there must be something inherently unsettling about realising, through the horrific experience of losing a parent, that you’re fast becoming the older generation with all of the responsibilities associated.

Shula’s right that, these days, being 51 is no barrier and that your life is far from over.

But with all of Kenton’s previous escapades, it’s easy to see why he’s putting such weight on the new style Jaxx being a success.
