Ambridge Extra Tuesday 11th October 2011: Daniel is flooding

(geography project and for Erin)

  • Aye, what about Aunty Christine?
  • Are we going to have to hear Daniel’s ‘private’ thoughts
  • Matt’s judgement of Clive?
  • Shula’s on sleeping tablets
  • What’s Matt up to?

Aye, what about Aunty Christine?

(actually – Great Aunty Christine to Daniel)

Daniel was asking why Alistair was checking the stables were locked the other night, when it’s not his usual job.

[Daniel] “It is because Clive Horrobin’s back in Ambridge .. .he was the guy that slashed the horses … and burnt down Aunty Christine’s old house”

[Alistair] “You have to remember that when he attacked the horses he though Aunty Christine still ran the stables, he never had anything against us”

[Daniel] “So what about aunty Christine then?”

[Alistair] “Well it was Uncle George he was really trying to get at and he’s not here anymore”

[Daniel] “But aunty Christine is!”

It is indeed lucky that Christine is away visiting Peter – but surely her and Clive’s paths will cross eventually?
And considering Clive was still asking why Susan shopped him to the Police, I don’t think he’s quite forgiven and forgotten … nasty wee man that he is.

[Alistair] “We just have to hope that such a long time in jail he’s learned his lesson”

[Daniel] “He didn’t before, did he?”

Quite right Daniel. I wouldn’t trust that Clive a centimetre.

Are we going to have to hear Daniel’s ‘private’ thoughts

Daniel is working on his flooding project with Erin.

She keeps getting texts from other blokes – seems everybody wants her.

We’re hearing Daniel’s internal mutterings – which including wishing he was popular, that he’d do anything for Erin, that if he got knocked out playing rugger, would she kiss him …

I can only hope the hidden microphones turn themselves off before such internal mutterings get too personal …

Matt’s judgement of Clive?

Matt reckons Clive was just full of the usual chat, but that he also didn’t have long enough to make the judgement.

Surely even Matt would think that Clive’s list of crimes was a tad stomach turning?

Shula’s on sleeping tablets

Because of Clive.

Poor Shula. Just imagine what Christine will be like …

[Alistair] “Think of how many people have been affected by that … pi8ece of dirt”

[Matt] “Alasdair I agree, it’d be better if Clive just stayed away … but what can you do?”

Get rid!

What’s Matt up to?

Clive has called right to Matt’s.

[Clive, internal muttering] “blimey. This hall’s bigger than my room”

He also (internally) eyes up Matt’s paintings – but manages to stop himself saying outloud. He has a favour to ask of Matt.

[Clive] “I realise The main reason I got into trouble was not having proper work … so more than anything, I’m after a job”

(eh? You burn down a house, assault people and horses, rob folks, threaten your sister – all because of a lack of decent work? Mais non, ya radge!)

Seems Clive did part of a plumbing course in prison, which he wants to finish at College, In the meantime, he reckons Matt could use him as a tradesman on Amside work.

[Matt] “No … I appreciate your situation, but I’ve got nothing to offer you”

But Clive leaves Matt his mobile number, just in case, and low-behold – the very next day (well, a matter of seconds in Ambridge Extra time) Matt calls to give him work.

[Clive] “And don’t you worry … I won’t let you down”

Aye, right then ...
